Red Lobster Restaurant Review Peoria Arizona

Red Lobster is a familiar and favorite restaurant for sea food. Red Lobster is a casual dine in restaurant that first opened its doors in 1968 in Florida. The restaurant expanded through-out the United States and brought tasty seafood to new land-lubber markets.

This is a review of a Red Lobster in the desert area of Greater Phoenix Arizona market.

We do not eat at Red Lobster very often. After joining the Red Lobster Facebook® page, we started receiving special enticements to bring us back to the restaurant. So, we took advantage of a recent promotion of buy one get one free. What a deal, huh!

I must admit that the changes in Red Lobster since the 1968 are remarkable. The first restaurants were decorated with items that looked like they belonged on a sea faring boat. The tables use to have little pots of chili sauce and tartar sauce on them and every meal came with 3 hush puppies.

We still miss the hush puppies.

Today, the restaurants have evolved to little or no sea faring boat décor. There are pictures of the sea or sea communities on the walls. The aquariums of fresh lobster are still in the lobby, though. Otherwise, the décor is muted with dark maroon and hunter green booths and rugs. The food has remained true to the original idea which is to bring tasty seafood to a middle market customer.

We were quickly seated and our beverage order was taken. I remembered that the ice tea was a real brewed tea. Our server brewed a fresh pot. I was very pleased with the thirst quenching tasty tea with a generous lemon wedge.

The tea arrived with a basket of their signature cheesy biscuits. These biscuits are very tasty. They are infused with cheese and butter. I do wish they did not fall apart so readily while you are eating them, though. I also wish they were NOT 150 calories each.

The husband ordered the Shrimp Tacos and a dinner salad. The dinner salad was crisp and had other veggies and croutons in it. The salad was also nicely presented. He thoroughly enjoyed the salad. The shrimp tacos were succulent and very tasty. The shrimp were wood grilled and nestled in fresh taco shells with a cabbage cilantro Cole slaw prepared with jalapeno ranch dressing. The tacos also had the perfect amount of pico de gallo in it. He ordered fries with his meal.

The tacos were wonderful. The hint of jalapenos provided just the right amount of heat to flavor ratio. The fries could have been a little more crispy and not so limp.

I ordered the flounder. I ordered their traditional Cole slaw. They do make a tasty and toothsome Cole slaw at Red Lobster. It has a tangy flavor that provides just the right amount of bounce. Many Cole slaws are too heavy on the mayonnaise type mixture with little other flavor.

The flounder may be ordered broiled, baked or fried. I asked for the broiled flounder. I complimented my meal with the roasted vegetables. Both items were very good. The flounder was broiled to perfection for taste. The vegetables were fully cooked but not mushy and had crispy edges. The presentation lacked, however. It tasted much better than it looked!

The exterior of the building is very attractive. The parking is easy to use. This location is great, being on a major retail street.

The price points are very good for seafood. It is a nice middle market restaurant that offers a pleasant location to dine at for reasonable prices.
